Luke Godwin is a third-generation car dealer from Columbia, South Carolina, who began his automotive career at 15 by washing cars at his father’s dealership, Godwin Motors.

After college, In 2001, he then transitioned to a full-time role as General Manager, and by 2015, he became part-owner of the dealership. Under his leadership, Godwin Motors expanded from a modest two-person operation to a thriving business employing approximately 20 staff members.

Along with day to day management, he handles all the buying for the dealership. He has built and oversees a Buy Here Pay Here (BHPH)  of 900+ accounts that average less than 12% annual repo percentages. He operates a 14-bay service, recon facility, RFC, and the dealership daily.  Godwin Motors’ motos are “We Finance you, Not your Credit” and “Come be part of our Family.”

Central to the dealership’s ethos, Luke fosters a customer-centric culture, evidenced by its 1500+ 5-star Google reviews, 381+ 5-star Facebook reviews, and 50+ 5 star yelp reviews. He has served as Past President of the Carolinas Independent Automobile Dealers Association (CIADA) and was honored as the CIADA Quality Dealer of the Year in 2015.

In addition to his dealership responsibilities, Luke co-hosts “The Independent Dealer Podcast,” sharing his extensive industry knowledge with peers nationwide.

As an angel investor, he leverages his expertise in finance, operations, and customer-centric business practices to support innovative startups across sectors such as automotive technology, financial services, real estate, and community-focused ventures.

Luke’s commitment to community service is demonstrated through his membership in the Governor’s Council on Consumer Credit since 2016, involvement with the Kiwanis Club, and support for organizations like The Cooperative Ministry. A magna cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina, Luke is also an avid runner, having completed Ironman Arizona in 2013. He, along with his wife Alexa and their daughter Hadley, are active members of First Presbyterian Church.

Alexa Godwin, a Columbia, South Carolina native, graduated from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina with a degree in marketing and a minor in public relations.

She began her career at Chernoff/Newman advertising agency, gaining valuable experience before transitioning to the nonprofit sector as the Public Affairs Coordinator for the South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations from 2001 to 2005. In 2005, Alexa joined RIGGS Advertising as an Account Manager, where she collaborated with clients and internal teams to ensure effective communication and the successful execution of marketing initiatives. Demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit, she became an owner-operator of My Gym Children’s Fitness Center in Northeast Columbia from 2008 to 2016, overseeing operations, hiring, and marketing efforts.

In September 2016, Alexa brought her extensive business management and marketing expertise to Godwin Motors, a family-operated independent car dealership, finance company, and full-service center in Columbia. For the past decade, she has played a pivotal role in brand management, human resources, operations control, and financial management. Her efforts include rebranding the dealership to reflect its family-centric culture and managing all marketing, advertising, and media relations, encompassing social media, printed materials, and website design.

Alexa’s commitment to community service is evident through her involvement with organizations such as Columbia Opportunity Resource, Leadership Columbia (Class of 2004), and the Junior League of Columbia, where she served as Vice-President of Community. Currently, she holds the position of Vice-President at The Cooperative Ministry, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the economic self-sufficiency of individuals experiencing poverty in the Midlands through crisis assistance and sustainability programs.

Beyond her professional and volunteer endeavors, Alexa is passionate about running, Barre3 fitness, vacation planning, home renovation, and movies. Her most cherished role is being a mother to her and Luke’s 13-year-old daughter, Hadley.
